Meet the
Vocation Director
Hello!
Welcome to the
website for the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St.
George! Whew! That is a long name, isn’t it? I know
that’s what you’re thinking! How did we get this name?
Well, we have a strong devotion to the Sacred Heart and we
first requested the name Sisters of St. Francis of the
Sacred Heart. However, this name was already taken and we
were asked to take the name of our founding parish. Our
founding parish is Martyr St. George in Thuine, Germany.
This is how St. George made it into our name! What a
wonderful patron we have in him.
Now that you know
a little about our community’s name, you may be wondering
who I am. My name is Sister M. Consolata and I am the
Vocation Director for our community. What does this
mean? Simply put, I am here to assist young women
discern the Lord’s call. Maybe this is you - that’s
right, you - who are reading this right now.
My role is to
help you. Do you feel a tug on your heart to give
everything to Jesus? Do you desire to live only for Him?
Or maybe you are just wondering what religious life is all
about. What is our life like? What do we do? How do we
pray?
I am here to help
answer your questions and walk with you during your time of
discernment. Remember, the Lord takes the first
initiative. He loves you. Yes, YOU! Then He invites you
to make a response to His love. I would love to hear from
you and about your journey with the Lord. Please do not
hesitate to contact me by phone (618.463.2757) or email (vocations@altonfranciscans.org)
or mail (see address at the foot of the page). You can even
check us out at our
blog.
Be not afraid to respond to His call of love with generosity
and courage. This life with Him is a beautiful gift!
I’ll leave you
with a few things about me so I do not seem like a complete
stranger that you would be calling up:
o
Born and raised in California
o
I have two younger sisters who
are now both married. My sister Annette and her
husband Rey have four children and my sister Rebecca and her
husband Brandon have five children. God bless them!
o
I served with NET Ministries
prior to entering.
o
I have been a Sister for 12
years
o
My name is after the Holy
Spirit, the Consoler.
o
and….guess what? I love Jesus!
Please
keep me and our Sisters in your prayers! Know that you are
in mine. May the Lord draw you to His Heart this day.
In Christ,
Sister M.
Consolata, FSGM (Franciscans of St. George the Martyr)
